Portable Ice Bath Tub: Cold Exposure Without Building a Spa

The tub I use myself. Compact, durable, and probably the best value-for-money cold plunge setup I have found in Thailand.

Bottom line: This is the portable ice bath tub I own and have used for almost a year. For the price, I have been impressed. It has held its shape, it is easy to move, and I would buy it again.

Why I Recommend It

I have used this tub for nearly a year now, so this is not just a marketplace listing that looked interesting. The return on investment has been good. Most cheap plastic tubs expand and bow out from the pressure of the water. This one has not done that, which is the main reason I trust it enough to recommend it.

It is also genuinely portable. I can take it on my bicycle, set it up, and lead people through Zen Strength breathwork + ice bath experiences. That is the real use case: a cold exposure setup that is simple enough to use at home, but light and compact enough to move when needed.

If you want to understand the wider practice context, this is the kind of tub I use for Zen Strength breathwork + ice bath sessions in Chiang Mai.

What the Listing Shows

The Shopee listing describes a portable outdoor ice bath / cold therapy tub. The verified product data shows one black option with thermometer, estimated two-day preparation, 10 units in stock at the time of review, and shipment from Chanthaburi. Product attributes list 2 kg weight, new condition, 200 kg support, and a 70 x 80 cm product size. Listing imagery also shows a cover, pump, and thermometer, but check the current bundle on Shopee before buying.

The listing had a 4.83 star rating from 46 ratings and 39 comments when checked on 2026-04-28. Price was not exposed in the data I could access, so treat the live Shopee page as the source of truth.

The Value Case

My preference, in a perfect world, is to lay down in a proper bathtub. This is not that. You squat down into it. But that compact shape is also why it works so well as a budget setup. It needs less water and less ice than a larger tub, which matters if you are paying for ice and setting this up regularly in Thailand.

That is the tradeoff I like. It is small, simple, compact, and one-person only. At this price point, I do not think you are going to find anything better for starting or maintaining a cold exposure practice.

What to Watch

The biggest critique is getting in and out. Because of the height and shape, it can be a little challenging to step into, especially if you are shorter, have tight hips, or have mobility issues. You may need a small step or something stable beside it.

It is also not for extra-large people. If you are very tall or wide, this tub may feel cramped or difficult to use. It fits one adult. It will not fit two adults, and it is not trying to.

Marketplace listings can change. Confirm the current price, accessories, seller rating, return policy, size, and stock before ordering. Also think through where you will drain the water. A portable ice bath is still a tub full of water, and Thai condos are not always forgiving about messy drainage.

Cold exposure also deserves common sense. Start short, avoid going alone if you are new to it, and be careful if you have cardiovascular issues, blood pressure issues, fainting history, or any medical condition that could make cold stress risky.
